The Texas Tone® PS-150 is designed to bring awesome tube tone to your gig, studio, or home. Too often, small guitar amplifiers lack tone as much as they lack quality. This hand-built amp works as well mic’d up on stage as it does in the studio or practice room. It plays very nicely with pedals, so it's also great as a pedal platform. The Texas Tone® PS-150 all-tube guitar amplifier is the ideal amplifier for those want:
Two switchable channels provide ample tonal flexibility. The vintage 12AY7 "Clean" channel has volume and tone controls, with that sweet tube tone that you expect from a clean channel. The more clockwise the Volume control is turned, the more touch sensitive the channel becomes: Turn up the gain slightly for a more dynamic breakup response. Turn it further for a rocking clean sound. Even dimed the volume is manageable. The channels can be switched using the push-pull Clean channel volume knob or with the included footswitch. A red LED indicates when the Clean channel is active.
The high-gain, focused frequency response dual-12AX7 "Lead" channel handles pedals extremely well and is very responsive to guitar and picking dynamics. With the Lead channel Master volume control maxed out, it can get surprising loud for a One Watt amp, and is the perfect pedal platform. As the Gain control is advanced, more and more high-gain tube drive and distortion is introduced, until you get total tube distortion. Use the Lead channel Master volume control to set the output sound level. This versatile channel can provide anything from mild crunch to high gain, while still sounding rich and tight.
The result is a versatile tube amp that can play clean or get great rock tone with the gain of a JCM 800 at low volumes. As usual, the noise floor of the Tone® PS-150 is quite low, designed for, and resulting in, reduced hum and hiss. The output impedance is switchable between 4, 8, or 16 Ohms, and can drive a variety of speakers up to a 4x12 stack. A 1x12 sealed cabinet is an available option, with the speaker of your choice. The Eminence GB128 is standard, prized for its punch- warm and singing with nice responsive lows and articulate mids and highs. The Texas Tone® PS-150 includes the technical features listed below:
